New Opel Corsa: prices and range in Portugal

The new Opel Corsa has already “landed” in Portugal, and we have driven it. You will not have to wait much longer for our first road test of the sixth-generation German model, the Corsa F, to be published.

Opel Corsa range in Portugal

With sales about to begin in Portugal, Opel has revealed the line-up for its best-selling model.

There are five powertrain options: three petrol units, one diesel and one electric. Although orders are already open, sales of the Corsa-e will only begin next spring.

The petrol range is based around a 1.2-litre three-cylinder engine in three outputs: 75 hp in naturally aspirated form, plus 100 hp and 130 hp turbocharged versions. The diesel is a 1.5-litre four-cylinder producing 100 hp.

Three gearboxes are available. The 75 hp 1.2 uses a five-speed manual, while the 100 hp 1.2 Turbo and 100 hp 1.5 Turbo D get a six-speed manual. An eight-speed automatic torque-converter transmission is offered with the 100 hp and 130 hp 1.2 Turbo engines.

Opel Corsa trim levels and equipment

Buyers can choose from three trim levels: Edition, Elegance and GS Line. The entry-level Edition is already reasonably well equipped, including heated electric door mirrors, cruise control with a speed limiter and air conditioning.

Every Corsa also comes with driver-assistance systems, including forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking and pedestrian detection, as well as traffic-sign recognition.

Focused more on comfort, Elegance adds LED interior lighting, a centre console with an armrest and storage compartment, electric rear windows, a 7-inch infotainment touchscreen, six speakers, MirrorLink, a rain sensor and LED headlamps with automatic high-/low-beam switching.

The GS Line is broadly similar to Elegance but adopts a sportier look and character. It features unique bumpers and a specific chassis set-up, with firmer front suspension, recalibrated steering and optimised engine sound - presumably electronically. It also gains sports seats, a black headlining, aluminium-look pedals and a flat-bottomed steering wheel.

How much does the new Opel Corsa cost?

Prices for the new Opel Corsa start at €15,510 for the 1.2 Edition and €20,310 for the 1.5 Turbo D Edition. As previously mentioned, the electric Corsa-e will not arrive until next spring, although it can already be ordered; prices start at €29,990.
