Volvo EX30 gets new 110 kW (150 hp) entry-level version

The least powerful Volvo EX30 currently produces 200 kW (272 hp), giving this B-SUV seriously brisk performance, as illustrated by its 0–100 km/h time of 5.7 seconds. Those figures would not look out of place on a hot hatch, yet they belong to the entry-level version of the Swedish brand’s smallest and most affordable electric SUV.

Perhaps for that reason, Volvo is preparing to launch a new, more modest entry-level variant with 110 kW (150 hp). In the manufacturer’s words, this is the “power you need for someone who requires a premium electric experience for everyday journeys”.

Its output is roughly half that of the previous entry-level version, which is expected to remain in the range. It retains the same 51 kWh and 69 kWh batteries, delivering ranges of up to 339 km and 476 km respectively. These are almost identical to the 200 kW (272 hp) version’s figures of 335 km and 475 km. Although pricing for the new variant has not yet been confirmed, it is expected to sit below the current €38,632.

Are there any other updates?

The new entry-level model forms part of the MY 2027 update, which focuses on enhanced technology, a refreshed interface and new interior options.

Starting with the interface, or infotainment system, Volvo has redesigned it to make frequently used functions easier to access. The settings system has also been reorganised to make menu navigation more straightforward.

In selected markets, the Volvo EX30 will also gain Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) capability. With a dedicated adaptor, this technology allows the EX30’s battery to serve as a power source for operating or charging external devices, including electric bicycles, tools and camping equipment.

Both the new interface and V2L function will also be made available to existing EX30 owners through over-the-air updates scheduled for the summer.

New interiors

Inside, two new themes will be offered: “Harvest”, defined by lighter, more neutral shades, and “Black”, which takes a darker-toned approach. The latter will also be added to the Black Edition range.

There are further changes for the Cross Country version, which will gain Plus equipment levels and a single-motor, rear-wheel-drive configuration. Until now, this variant has only been offered with two electric motors and all-wheel drive.

When will it arrive?

Volvo has not yet announced specific dates for the start of sales of the EX30 MY 2027, although its arrival is expected soon. Prices have not been confirmed either.
