BMW iX3 2026: prices and specifications

The BMW iX3 2026 represents a decisive turning point in the Bavarian brand’s history. It is the first of several “Neue Klasse” models set to play a crucial role in the German manufacturer’s future, introducing an entirely new 800 V electric platform that is intended to underpin every BMW over the next decade.

Built at BMW’s new plant in Debrecen, Hungary, the new model can already be ordered in Portugal, where prices start from €72,900.

BMW iX3 design and dimensions

The combustion-engined X3 remains on sale - and has recently been updated - while the all-electric iX3 has comparable dimensions but a clearly different design. Its bodywork uses cleaner, more restrained surfaces, while the front end adopts a solution inspired by 1960s models, most notably the compact illuminated double kidney grille.

Measuring 4.78 metres long, 1.89 metres wide and 1.64 metres high, with a 2.897-metre wheelbase, the iX3 closely matches the dimensions of the combustion-engined X3. At the front, the vertical kidney grilles, which recall models from the 1960s, and the new lighting signature are the key visual features.

Panoramic iDrive and Operating System X

Inside, the SUV features a minimalist dashboard centred around the new Panoramic iDrive. This comprises a strip at the base of the windscreen onto which information is projected, alongside an almost 15-inch touchscreen. It also signals the end of the traditional iDrive, bringing all vehicle information and functions together in one place.

The Android-based Operating System X supports the integration of external apps, over-the-air updates and a smooth digital experience.

One powertrain only

The BMW iX3 is offered with a single powertrain, combining two electric motors for a total of 345 kW (469 hp) and 645 Nm of torque. This enables it to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.9 seconds and reach a top speed of 210 km/h.

Its 108.7 kWh battery provides a range of up to 805 km (WLTP), while the 400 kW direct-current (DC) rapid-charging system can add up to 370 km of range in only 10 minutes. With alternating-current (AC) charging, power ranges from 11 kW to 22 kW, depending on the installation.

The iX3 offers more than power and range. The Neue Klasse platform also brings major electronic advances, embodied by four “super-brains” in which everything is connected and responds 10 times faster, delivering a smoother and safer driving experience.

The “Heart of Joy” is perhaps the one attracting the most attention, as it controls every aspect of the new iX3’s dynamic behaviour, from the powertrain and steering to braking. It also manages energy recuperation: BMW says that, in everyday driving, energy can be recovered during 98% of braking events, reducing the need to use the conventional brakes.

How much does the BMW iX3 cost?

As noted above, the BMW iX3 is already available to reserve in Portugal, with prices starting from €72,900. Deliveries of the new electric SUV are expected to begin next spring.
