This is neither an April Fool’s joke nor a vehicle created with the help of artificial intelligence. The Romanian marque really has produced a pick-up version of the Dacia Duster, and we cannot help wondering how it would cope if taken along “rough tracks”.

Developed with Romturingia, a Romanian company specialising in bodywork conversions, the Dacia Duster now features a load bed at the rear.

Load space for professional use

The project is aimed more towards professional users, with the cargo area designed to carry larger items.

The bodywork has been cut where the boot would normally be, making way for a drop-down tailgate. Payload capacity is 430 kg.

The available area in this section of the Duster measures roughly one metre long by one metre wide. It is not large enough for full pallets, but it can accommodate ladders, pipes and toolboxes.

Four seats and familiar Dacia Duster mechanicals

Inside, there are four seats, while the mechanical basis is unchanged from the existing Dacia Duster: either a 130 hp hybrid system or a 140 hp mild-hybrid unit. In the latter case, it comes with all-wheel drive.

The main drawback is that the Dacia Duster pick-up is only available in Romania, with no indication that it will reach the domestic market.
