Peugeot’s 2023 electrification strategy

Peugeot’s 2023 new releases signal an all-in commitment to electrification. The lion brand, which tops the sales charts in Portugal, is determined to reshape its entire model range. This evolution began in 2022 with the 408 crossover (pictured above) and will continue throughout 2023.

This year, the French manufacturer will introduce new electric models, while its existing EVs will be “strengthened” with greater power and range. There are also developments in plug-in hybrids, and even combustion engines have not “escaped” electrification. Peugeot will launch a new-generation mild-hybrid system.

Inception concept and the E-Lion Project

Stylistically, Peugeot is also undergoing a transformation that will run until 2030, and it has already begun to lift the “veil” on what is to come. It has done so both through the striking Inception concept - one of the highlights of this year’s CES - and the presentation of the E-Lion Project, which outlined every stage of this change.

The new Peugeot 3008 is the major 2023 launch

Of the many new models Peugeot will unveil in 2023, the most significant will undoubtedly be the new Peugeot 3008 (third generation).

Expectations are high. In recent years, the 3008 has been one of Peugeot’s most important models, both in sales terms and for the brand’s perception and positioning.

With that in mind, the direction Peugeot has chosen for the third generation of this SUV is surprising. The shape and styling of the new Peugeot 3008 will be completely different.

This is evident from spy photographs of the new generation, which reveal an “SUV-coupé” silhouette that is entirely unlike the current 3008.

As well as promising head-turning design, the new 3008 will debut Stellantis’s new STLA Medium platform. This marks another important step for the group led by Carlos Tavares, as the architecture is more focused on electric powertrains. Yes, the new Peugeot 3008 will have fully electric versions.

Three e-3008 variants are planned in total, including one with two electric motors - one on each axle - and four-wheel drive. It will be the brand’s first fully electric four-wheel-drive model.

The new Peugeot 3008 will not be revealed until the second half of 2023. Before then, the current 3008 will be enhanced by the arrival of a new 48 V petrol mild-hybrid powertrain. Find out more about it through this link:

Greater efficiency and range for Peugeot electric cars

At a more advanced stage of electrification, Peugeot will bolster the Peugeot e-208’s appeal with increased power and range. However, it is the all-new Peugeot e-308 that is likely to attract the most attention.

Offered in two body styles - hatchback and estate - the Peugeot e-308 will use a 117 kW (156 hp) electric motor and a battery with 50 kWh of usable capacity (54 kWh total). It promises more than 400 km of range and, according to the French brand, to be the “king of efficiency” in its class. A more detailed article about this model is available through this link:
