Renault Captur: major update due in 2024

The current-generation Renault Captur, on sale since 2019, is set for a significant update during the first half of 2024.

Leaked patent-registration images have now revealed what appear to be the model’s principal revisions, at least externally. Its styling will move closer to that of the other cars in the French brand’s line-up.

Renault Captur exterior design changes

As with the recently updated Clio, which gained a more assertive appearance in line with the work of Renault’s new design director, Gilles Vidal, the Captur will follow the same direction. Some of the rounded surfaces that have defined this generation’s design will disappear.

The most noticeable alterations will be concentrated at the front, where the revised Captur will take on several design features recently introduced on the Renault Scénic E-Tech, which we have already driven.

Its light signature will be much slimmer and split into two sections. The Renault badge in the centre will be smaller, the grille will become considerably narrower and more horizontal, and the bonnet will have a flatter shape.

From the side and at the rear, however, very little is expected to change on the new Captur, apart from the bumper and, most likely, the wheel design.

What will change inside?

These patent-registration images provide no clues about the interior. However, based on the changes made to the Clio, Renault is expected to thoroughly revise the Captur’s materials and finishes, which should represent a step up in quality.

Engines and powertrains

Major mechanical changes are not expected either, with Renault likely to retain one of the most varied engine ranges in the segment.

The Captur is currently offered on the Portuguese market with petrol, Bi-Fuel (LPG) and hybrid versions, and that range is expected to continue in the future.

When will it arrive?

The updated Renault Captur will be unveiled in spring, and it would come as no surprise if the French manufacturer chose the Geneva Motor Show in Switzerland, at the end of February, for its debut.

Its market launch is expected to follow a few months later, around summer.
