Lewis Hamilton calls the Ferrari F80 the fastest road car he has ever driven

Ferrari’s 2025 season has not been particularly memorable, either for Scuderia Ferrari or for its two drivers, Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton. That does not mean, however, that they cannot enjoy themselves behind the wheel of a hypercar such as the new Ferrari F80.

In a video released by the Maranello marque, it is hard to miss just how impressed the British driver was by the Italian brand’s hypercar. Hamilton even said that the Ferrari F80 “is the fastest road car I’ve ever been in”.

Hamilton was sufficiently taken with it to consider adding one to his own collection: “I really have to order one of these one day.” The Monegasque driver, meanwhile, was more definite. When Hamilton asked what colour his would be, Leclerc’s answer was straightforward: “All black.” See for yourself:

Although all 799 F80 examples have already been allocated to their respective owners, it is not difficult to guess who two of them might be. After all, Ferrari itself describes the F80 as “the most powerful Ferrari ever”.

Ferrari F80 returns Maranello to hypercars

The new Ferrari F80 brings the Maranello manufacturer back to the hypercar segment more than a decade after the LaFerrari made its debut. The F80 will also usher in a new generation of models for the marque, while retaining its “tradition of innovation and performance”.

Fans of the glorious naturally aspirated V12 engines associated with the Italian marque will, naturally, be more disappointed. Behind the Ferrari F80’s cockpit sits an engine with half the cylinders and displacement, but around 240 hp more than the LaFerrari. It is a twin-turbocharged 3.0-litre V6 which, on its own, produces 900 hp and 850 Nm of torque.

The electrified era of the Ferrari F80

As this is the most powerful Ferrari ever, there is more to the package, as was also the case with its predecessor. The more compact combustion engine is joined by three electric motors - two on the front axle and one on the rear axle - delivering a combined output of 1200 hp and four-wheel drive.

As expected, its performance figures are remarkable. According to the manufacturer’s claimed figures, the Ferrari F80 accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in only 2.15 seconds, while 200 km/h arrives in the blink of an eye: 5.75 seconds. Its stated top speed is 350 km/h.
