Renault Captur 2024: updated compact SUV arrives in Europe

The Renault Captur remains one of the French brand’s most prominent models, with more than two million units sold across 90 countries.

This latest update for the compact yet roomy SUV broadly follows the approach already used for the Renault Clio. In other words, the most noticeable visual change is at the front, which now adopts the brand’s new design language, created by Gilles Vidal.

From the rear, the 2024 Captur receives more restrained updates. However, the light clusters now have clear lenses, while the new Renault badge is also fitted.

As for the exterior, buyers who prefer a sportier look will be pleased to hear that the Renault Captur is now also offered in Esprit Alpine trim. This version features larger 19-inch alloy wheels and more aggressively styled bumpers.

For the 2024 Captur, Renault also highlights a choice of three equipment levels, three wheel sizes and six body colours, which can be paired with a contrasting roof colour, creating 14 possible configurations.

Interior environment

Inside, there are new finishes and recycled materials, with chrome trim and leather no longer used. One of the key highlights in the cabin is the new 10.25-inch digital instrument display.

In addition, a second centrally positioned 10.4-inch vertical touchscreen is fitted. This provides access to the Android-based operating system, which includes built-in Google applications. These include Google Maps, the Google Play app store and the virtual assistant.

The 2024 Renault Captur continues to stand out for its available space and versatility. Its rear bench still slides longitudinally by 16 cm, allowing boot capacity to range from 484 litres to 616 litres, or from 348 litres to 480 litres in the hybrid version.

Under the bonnet, nothing changes

This is the area in which the Renault Captur brings no major updates. At the entry point of the range is the 1.0 TCE three-cylinder, 1-litre engine producing 90 hp. It is followed by a turbocharged four-cylinder 1.3-litre version, the 1.3 TCE, with 160 hp and a mild-hybrid system.

There is also a 100 hp LPG-powered 1.0 TCE option, which remains an excellent choice for markets such as Portugal. Last but not least, the E-Tech full hybrid is the hybrid option that does not need plugging in. Its combined output from the 1.6-litre combustion engine and electric motor reaches 145 hp.

There may be no changes beneath the bonnet, but there are updates to the chassis. Renault has announced revisions to the suspension geometry, dampers and tyres, all complemented by new calibration for the electrically assisted steering.

When does it arrive?

We will not have to wait long to find out how these revisions have affected the handling, comfort and driving experience of the 2024 Renault Captur. Sales of the model will begin in the European market later this month.

For now, prices for Portugal have not yet been announced.
