Volvo EX60: record range and 10-year battery warranty confirmed

The new Volvo EX60 is drawing ever closer to European roads. The Swedish marque has gradually been disclosing details of a model designed to challenge its familiar rivals: the BMW iX3, Audi Q6 and Mercedes GLC.

With just two weeks remaining before its public unveiling, the Swedish brand has released further specifications for the model, including its range and battery warranty information.

Built on Geely’s SPA3 platform, the new Volvo EX60 will usher in a fresh generation of electrified models for the brand, both in terms of its electric powertrain and how it is manufactured. It is the first Volvo to be built using mega casting, following investment to modernise the Torslanda factory in Sweden.

Record Volvo range

According to the Swedish manufacturer, the new Volvo EX60 will be able to cover up to 810 km (a preliminary figure) on the WLTP cycle from a single charge, making it the longest-range electric Volvo ever.

Its 800 V architecture allows it to regain up to 340 km of range in only 10 minutes when connected to a charger supplying up to 400 kW. The brand’s aim is to deliver range levels and charging speeds comparable with those of combustion-engined cars.

Volvo EX60 electrical system

While the total battery capacity of the new Volvo EX60 has yet to be confirmed, certain technical details are already known. They indicate that the improved range has not been achieved simply by increasing the number of battery cells.

Volvo has incorporated the battery directly into the vehicle structure using cell-to-body technology, while developing its electric motors in-house to minimise the overall weight of the assembly. The equation is straightforward: less weight means more range.

Final figures have not yet been disclosed, although Volvo has already confirmed that every EX60 customer will receive a 10-year battery warranty.

Another significant innovation, mentioned previously, is the use of mega casting technology. This replaces hundreds of smaller components with a single, high-precision cast part. The approach also helps reduce weight and improve performance.

When will it arrive?

The Volvo EX60 will be unveiled on 21 January 2026 during an event streamed live from Stockholm, Sweden. The final details of a model that, according to the brand, is targeting segment leadership will be revealed on that date.

It is a segment with which Volvo is very familiar. The Volvo XC60, which will continue to be sold alongside its fully electric “sibling”, has been the Swedish marque’s best-selling model for several years.

Prices for the Volvo EX60 are not yet known, but they are expected to be announced during the first quarter of 2026. Its market launch should take place in the second half of the year.
