Ferrari Elettrica: first technical details of the 1000 hp electric Ferrari

After years of speculation, including several spy photographs, Ferrari has revealed the first technical details of the Elettrica, the first fully electric model in its history.

Unveiled during Capital Markets Day 2025, it signals the beginning of a new chapter for the Maranello marque. With more than 1000 hp in boost mode and a 0–100 km/h time of just 2.5 seconds, the Elettrica is set to reshape expectations of electric performance.

Ferrari has said it would only introduce an electric car once the technology could meet its own standards for performance and driving emotion. It appears that point has now been reached.

Ferrari Elettrica platform and four-motor powertrain

The Elettrica is based on an all-new platform engineered from the ground up in Maranello. Both its chassis and body are made using 75% recycled aluminium, cutting CO₂ emissions by 6.7 tonnes for every car produced.

It uses four electric motors, with two on each axle, to deliver total output of more than 1000 hp. Although it has four-wheel drive, the front motors can be disengaged, allowing the Elettrica to operate as a rear-wheel-drive model.

122 kWh battery, 800 V architecture and charging

Power comes from a battery with a gross capacity of 122 kWh and a record energy density of 195 Wh/kg. It uses an 800 V architecture, while Ferrari states that the entire system has been developed in-house.

Built into the floor structure, the battery helps lower the centre of gravity by around 80 mm compared with a similarly specified car fitted with an internal-combustion engine. Rapid charging is available at up to 350 kW, while range exceeds 530 km on the WLTP cycle.

An electric Ferrari that still “speaks Italian”

As with every Ferrari, sound has not been overlooked. Rather than creating an artificial soundtrack, however, the Elettrica amplifies the mechanical vibrations produced by its electric system. Ferrari likens the approach to an electric guitar, aiming to create a more genuine connection between driver and machine.

The third-generation active suspension is directly evolved from the system used by the Purosangue and F80, and can make adjustments 200 times per second. It can also control vertical, longitudinal and lateral forces independently, delivering what Ferrari describes as a notable balance of comfort and precision.

The Ferrari Elettrica retains the forward-set driving position traditionally associated with mid-engined berlinettas, giving the driver a direct relationship with the front axle. Its short chassis and new flexible rear subchassis - the first in Ferrari history - have the “mission” of reducing vibration and noise without sacrificing structural rigidity.

Ahead of the driver, the steering wheel retains the familiar Manettino on the right for selecting driving modes. The Elettrica also introduces an eManettino on the left, which is used to set energy-management parameters and traction levels.

There are three main modes - Range, Tour and Performance - plus five torque-delivery levels. These are selected using the paddles behind the steering wheel, reproducing the progressive feel of a gearbox.

Unveiling in 2026

With a top speed of 310 km/h, the Ferrari Elettrica brings Formula 1 technology together with a new phase in Maranello’s hand-crafted tradition. The global debut of the final interior and exterior design is scheduled for spring 2026, when the first Ferrari powered solely by electricity will be revealed in full.
