New electric Mercedes-Benz GLC: standard screens and MBUX Hyperscreen

So far, we had only seen the new, previously unseen electric Mercedes-Benz GLC with the MBUX Hyperscreen inside: a vast display spanning the full width of the cabin, measuring an impressive 39.1 inches.

The effect is striking, but the MBUX Hyperscreen is not included as standard on the new GLC. That immediately raised the question of what standard equipment actually includes. The answer soon arrived: see the image below.

As shown, the standard setup consists of three displays, all housed beneath the same glass surface: a 10.3-inch instrument display, a 14-inch central touchscreen for infotainment, and another 14-inch screen positioned in front of the passenger.

MBUX Superscreen and MBUX Hyperscreen options

The latter is rather peculiar, as it does not respond to touch. Mercedes-Benz refers to it as a “digital animated panel”, and it serves purely as decoration.

To make this screen useful - after all, its 14-inch diagonal is generous - you will need to look through the options list and select MBUX Superscreen. Could it be available only via subscription? The display then becomes touch-sensitive, allowing the front passenger to interact with it.

Naturally, anyone wanting the complete immersive experience will need to go a step further and choose the MBUX Hyperscreen (above), which merges the three displays into one. Will we see any GLC leave the dealership with the “digital animated panel”?
