The Renault Scenic E-Tech Electric arrived on the market in 2024 and, around two years after entering the electric era, has received a significant update. The key changes include two new batteries, rated at 89 kWh and 67 kWh, replacing the previous 87 kWh and 60 kWh units respectively.
With the larger battery, range rises by roughly 17 km, now reaching a maximum of 642 km on the combined WLTP cycle.
New batteries and improved range
The smaller-battery version gains even more range: an additional 37 km, increasing from 430 km to 467 km. Its battery chemistry also changes, with the former NMC (nickel manganese cobalt) battery replaced by an LFP (lithium iron phosphate) unit featuring a cell-to-pack architecture, without modules.
The 89 kWh battery (usable capacity) retains a maximum DC charging output of 150 kW, although charging time has been reduced. The electric Scenic now takes just 28 minutes to charge from 15% to 80%, compared with 37 minutes previously. Renault says this improvement comes from its ability to sustain high charging rates for longer.
The new 67 kWh LFP battery (usable capacity), meanwhile, supports a higher charging rate of 165 kW and needs 24 minutes to cover the same 15–80% battery charge interval.
What else has changed?
Renault has also updated the Scenic E-Tech Electric's cabin. In Techno trim, the front and rear seats now use a new fabric made from more than 95% recycled yarn. The seat design has also been revised to provide greater comfort and support.
The dashboard now features a carbon black finish, while the Esprit Alpine trim receives an interior finish with a «spectral titanium» effect.
Renault Scenic E-Tech Electric exterior and driver assistance updates
On the outside, the Scenic's colour range now includes seven choices, including two new shades: Satin Blue Slate and Exo Galaxy Grey. The lower sections of the front and rear bumpers now have a gloss black finish, while the range also gains two new 19-inch and 20-inch wheel designs.
The revisions also cover the driver-assistance systems. Adaptive cruise control is now fitted as standard, alongside the advanced driver-monitoring system.
Active Drive Assist has been upgraded to assess traffic and activity around the vehicle in greater detail. An emergency-stop function has also been added, enabling the car to come to a complete halt if the driver fails to respond to the system's warnings.
When will it arrive?
At present, the Scenic E-Tech Electric is available in Portugal only with the 160 kW (218 hp) powertrain and the larger battery. Renault has not yet confirmed how the updated Scenic range will be configured for the Portuguese market.
There are still no prices or launch dates for Portugal. Currently, the Renault Scenic E-Tech Electric is priced from €49,640. However, the updated model is unlikely to be long in arriving, as it is already available to order in France.
