Suzuki Jimny Sierra Saudade wants to be French

Suzuki Jimny Sierra Saudade: French-inspired styling

We are beginning to think the Suzuki Jimny has an identity crisis. We have already seen it transformed into a Mercedes-Benz G-Class, a Defender and even a Lancia Delta Integrale. Now, it apparently wants to be French too.

Thanks to Japanese tuning company DAMD, this is the most unusual Suzuki Jimny we have seen so far. Not only because of its Renault 5-inspired front end, but also because of its name: Jimny Sierra Saudade. Do the Japanese know what “saudade” means?

The kit brings a new front end with square headlights modelled on those of the original Renault 5, along with a black grille and a bumper featuring a lower protection plate. OZ Racing wheels and a roof rack complete its more adventurous appearance.

For anyone considering buying one, there is some disappointing news: the Jimny Sierra Saudade is available only on the Japanese market. Prices start at €2,235, excluding painting, or €3,300 with the OZ Racing wheel set.

Suzuki Jimny Sierra engine specifications

The engine, however, is unchanged. The Suzuki Jimny Sierra uses the same specification as the Jimny sold here: a 1.5-litre unit producing 102 hp. Japan also gets a kei car version of the Jimny, which has narrower tracks and a 658 cm³ turbocharged engine delivering 64 hp.
