New Mercedes-Benz GLB revealed as a fully electric seven-seat SUV

The new, fully electric generation of the Mercedes-Benz GLB has now been revealed. Its first images show a more contemporary appearance, closely aligned with the new CLA, which we have already had the chance to test.

On the outside, it features more sculpted proportions, a new light signature and a more assertive front end. Mercedes-Benz says the GLB was developed to strengthen this model’s more adventurous character, while bringing its styling into line with the brand’s new design language.

Mercedes-Benz GLB: space for up to seven occupants

One of its biggest highlights is the option to carry up to seven occupants, just as with its predecessor. Indeed, the manufacturer describes it as the most versatile “all-rounder” in its entry-level range, retaining the robust stance that has always defined the GLB alongside modularity designed for family use.

Inside, the immediate focal point is the new MBUX Superscreen, which spans much of the dashboard and is intended to enhance the digital experience on board. Mercedes-Benz also says it aimed to make the GLB even more intuitive and easier to use every day, further combining practicality with technology.

At launch, two versions are planned: the GLB 250+ and GLB 350 4MATIC. The former uses a 200 kW (272 hp) system and offers up to 631 km of WLTP range, thanks to a battery with 85 kWh of usable capacity. The latter adds a motor to the front axle, giving the GLB four-wheel drive as well as 354 hp.

In both versions, the 800 V electrical architecture can add around 260 km of range in just ten minutes when connected to a rapid DC charger. As with the CLA, a fully electric entry-level version is planned for the future, together with hybrid powertrains featuring a combustion engine.

When will it reach the market?

The commercial launch is scheduled for spring 2026, with the GLB 250+ and GLB 350 4MATIC arriving first. In Germany, prices start at €59,048 for the GLB 250+ and €62,178 for the GLB 350 4MATIC, figures that provide an indication of its European positioning.

The brand has already opened its configurator in Germany, suggesting that other European countries should follow over the coming months. Once it reaches the market, the new GLB will face particularly strong competition in the compact electric SUV category. It remains to be seen what its prices will be in the domestic market.
