The Peugeot e-208 was Europe’s best-selling B-segment electric car last year. That position is under threat this year, however, following the arrival of fresh rivals ranging from the more affordable Citroën ë-C3 to the distinctive Renault 5 E-Tech electric.

The French brand has therefore strengthened its model’s credentials, beginning with its range, which now stands at 433 km on the combined WLTP cycle. This represents an increase of 23 km over the previous version.

Peugeot e-208 range and battery updates

The extra kilometres result from improvements to the battery chemistry - which remains NMC lithium-ion, using nickel, manganese and cobalt - as well as motor optimisation. These changes have lowered energy consumption and given the e-208 the longest range in its segment.

However, the upgrades apply only to the 115 kW (156 hp) version with the 51 kWh battery. The 100 kW (136 hp) model with its 50 kWh battery has not changed and continues to offer a maximum range of 363 km.

The improvements extend beyond the increased range. The Peugeot e-208 now features a new 80% charge-limit function, although this is available solely when charging on alternating current (AC).

To make charging easier to plan and help optimise range, the model also offers the Trip Planner option, a tool designed to organise journeys. Peugeot has additionally fitted the e-208 with pre-installation for the Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) function, allowing it to power small electrical devices such as bicycles or portable lighting.

Are there any further updates?

Yes. The e-208 now receives a new multifunction video camera and, visually, a new Okenite White shade. It replaces Banquise White, as it has across the rest of the model range.

Away from the electric version, the Peugeot 208’s mild-hybrid powertrains have also been updated. They are now called Hybrid 110 and Hybrid 145 - previously Hybrid 100 and Hybrid 136 - to reflect the combined output of the petrol engine and electric motor.

When will it arrive?

The Peugeot e-208 with 433 km of range is already available to buy in Portugal, with prices starting at €30,953, including a promotional campaign.
