Mitsubishi Colt imagined from the new Renault Clio
The current Mitsubishi Colt is essentially a rebadged fifth-generation Renault Clio. With the sixth generation of the French supermini due soon, however, it is easy to picture what its replacement might have looked like.
Digital artist Theophilus Chin combined the front- and rear-end styling cues of the new Eclipse Cross - itself directly derived from the Renault Scenic - with the bodywork of the new Clio.
The images below show the outcome, and it is not difficult to argue that the finished design could even be seen as more broadly appealing than the donor model.
Mitsubishi Colt will not receive a successor
That said, this scenario is already known not to be happening. Mitsubishi recently confirmed that the Colt will be discontinued shortly and will not be replaced. The three-diamond brand will concentrate exclusively on crossover and SUV models, with its European range therefore starting with the ASX, a clone of the Renault Captur.
Mitsubishi will consequently no longer have a presence in either the city-car or supermini segments. The Space Star had already been withdrawn, and the Colt will soon follow it.
