Dacia Sandero, Sandero Stepway, Jogger and Logan 2024 receive new safety systems

Dacia has updated the Sandero, Sandero Stepway, Jogger and Logan for 2024 to meet the requirements of the European Union’s (EU) new General Safety Regulation (GSR II).

The new rules initially applied only to newly launched models from July 2022, but from 7 July all new cars on sale will be required to comply.

This was also one of the main reasons behind the extensive facelift of the Spring, the fully electric model that we have already seen in person in France:

Which safety systems have been added?

Among other measures, the new regulation requires new cars to include a greater range of standard safety equipment, with some of these features having prompted controversy. These include the introduction of a “black box” and a speed limiter.

To satisfy the new requirements, Dacia has had to fit its models with the following equipment:

• Event data recorder in the event of an accident (black box);
• Alcohol interlock pre-installation;
• Drowsiness and distraction warning;
• Rear-view camera or detection system;
• Lane-keeping assist;
• Autonomous emergency braking;
• Emergency stop signal system;
• Expanded head-impact zone for pedestrians and cyclists, plus safety glass;
• Intelligent speed assistance;
• Occupant protection in pole impacts.

Dacia’s 2024 range will therefore feature a higher number of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), as well as gaining new functions.

More comprehensive and easier to use

The Sandero, Sandero Stepway, Jogger and Logan - which is due to launch in Portugal this spring - will now come with a “My safety” button on the dashboard. Provided the vehicle is switched on, it allows the driver to deactivate certain assistance systems at any point during a journey.

In addition, the entire 2024 Dacia range will be “equipped” with a Rescue QR code on both the windscreen and rear window. It enables anyone to access all the information needed to respond effectively in an emergency.

The 400-page owner’s manual will no longer be supplied in print. It is now available digitally through the My Dacia app or via the QR code printed in the new quick guide, which is just 32 pages long. A detailed paper version of the owner’s manual can still be ordered if required.

The updated models also receive front USB-C ports as standard, with rear ports available as an option.

The Jogger HYBRID 140 also introduces a new E-SAVE function. This can be used to set a target charge level below which the battery will not fall, saving energy for use later in the journey.

When will they be available?

Orders for the updated 2024 Dacia Sandero, Sandero Stepway, Jogger and Logan are scheduled to open in spring 2024.
