Leapmotor T03 and C10 arrive in Portugal

The joint venture between Chinese manufacturer Leapmotor and Stellantis is set to introduce two new models to Europe. This marks the opening stage of the Chinese car maker’s push into the European market, with Portugal among the first countries where the cars will be sold.

The Leapmotor T03 is expected to reach the market later this month, followed shortly afterwards by the C10 SUV in mid-October.

Indicative prices are expected to range from €18,900 to €36,400, according to the model. Final pricing for Portugal has not yet been announced, so these figures are provisional.

Leapmotor T03

It is the smaller and more affordable of the two. The T03 is Leapmotor’s first model to be built in Europe by Stellantis. Production is already under way at the Tychy plant in Poland.

Measuring 3,620 mm long and 1,652 mm wide, this Chinese-designed, European-built city car will rival other A-segment models, including the Dacia Spring, which is available in Portugal from €16,905.

The T03 uses a Leapmotor electric motor delivering a maximum output of 70 kW (95 hp) and 158 Nm of torque. Paired with a 37.3 kWh battery, it has a claimed combined WLTP range of up to 265 km.

Leapmotor C10

Initially, the C10 will be imported from China, although the plan is for this model to be manufactured in Europe in the near future as well.

Already on sale in China, this fully electric model is 4,739 mm long and 1,900 mm wide. Its external dimensions are therefore very close to those of the Tesla Model Y, although it is expected to be more affordable.

This D-segment SUV has a 435-litre boot, expanding to 1,410 litres with the rear seats folded down.

For propulsion, the Leapmotor C10 features an electric motor producing 160 kW (218 hp) and 320 Nm of torque. Its battery has a 69.9 kWh capacity, which the brand says provides a claimed 420 km WLTP range.

Future plans

Alongside Portugal, these models will also be introduced “in the first wave” in Belgium, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Romania, Spain, Switzerland and the United Kingdom.

By the end of this year’s fourth quarter, Leapmotor International expects to extend its operations to the Middle East and Africa (Israel and French overseas territories), Asia-Pacific (Australia, New Zealand, Thailand and Malaysia), and South America (Brazil and Chile).
