New Dacia Duster in Portugal: prices start €1,700 higher

Recently unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show, the new Dacia Duster will arrive in Portugal with an entry price €1,700 higher than that of its predecessor.

Orders will open shortly, with the first cars due to reach the country in spring 2024.

At the presentation of Dacia’s 2023 results in Portugal, we had the chance to see the new model in advance and, spoilers, it made a good impression.

Dacia Duster in Portugal

In Portugal, the Duster range is offered in four trim levels: Essential, Expression, and the range-topping Journey and Extreme versions. Two flagship trims? Yes, that is correct. Both sit at the top of the Duster line-up, but take different approaches: “design and comfort” for the Journey, and “practical and robust” for the Extreme.

The new-generation Duster introduces two electrified powertrains: the HYBRID140 and the TCe 130, the latter featuring mild-hybrid technology. Petrol-only and diesel options have been dropped.

However, the popular ECO-G, a bi-fuel engine that runs on LPG and petrol, remains in the catalogue and now serves as the entry-level option.

• Duster HYBRID 140 - 140 hp (1.6-litre petrol engine plus two electric motors), automatic gearbox, 1.2 kWh battery;
• Duster TCe 130 - 130 hp, 1.2-litre turbocharged three-cylinder petrol Miller-cycle engine; six-speed manual gearbox; 48 V mild-hybrid system (electric motor + 0.8 kWh battery);
• Duster ECO-G 100 - 100 hp, 1.0-litre turbocharged three-cylinder petrol/LPG engine; five-speed manual gearbox.

When will the new Dacia Duster arrive?

Orders for the new Dacia Duster will open on 11 March, while it is set to arrive at dealerships in spring.

The cheapest Duster now starts at €19,150, compared with €17,450 for its predecessor. This €1,700 difference is partly explained by the discontinuation of the TCe 90 engine (a 90 hp 1.0-litre turbo), leaving the ECO-G Bi-Fuel powertrain as the most affordable in the range.

The other reason is the broader standard-equipment offering, particularly safety-related items, which has ultimately affected prices across the entire range.
